A magnitude 6.2 earthquake hit the Bali Sea of Indonesia at 5.13 pm today, the Malaysian Meteorological Department reported.

It said in a statement that the epicentre of the quake was 259km northeast from Denpasar, Bali, and 1,047km southeast of Sarikei, Sarawak.
